Diagram 1 – 3 V’s of Big Data

(diagrams.net Author's work)

According to Wigmore (2020), the three V's of Big Data Volume, Velocity and Variety are key feature elements. Volume is corresponding to tremendous amounts of data, Velocity refers to the extreme rate at which data arrive, Variety defines a wide diversity of data. Understanding all aspects is necessary when analysing these data, in addition, the 3 V's model was first presented in 2001 by Gartner analyst Doug Laney (Wigmore, 2020), moreover it can be assumed that this is an old concept nowadays researchers are adding further V's to the model, for example variability or value.
