Survey Analysis: Demographics

It is time to analyse the data collected.

Of the 21 responses, 57.1 % (12 persons) are between the ages of 18 and 23. This is not surprising as most students are of this age. Only two people under the age of eighteen and the same number between 34 and 48 years. The rest of the respondents, i.e., 5 people, are between 24-33 years old. In further analysis, it will be noted whether the age of the respondents influenced the answers given.


I am glad that I was able to reach out to both genders. The graph above shows that 66.7% of the respondents are male (14 persons). There are only two women in my class, so my aim was to get as many female responses as possible.

 

 

I would like to point out that 21 responses are not a lot and the analysis carried out may not be accurate. However, why is age and sex important? I assume that this will allow some conclusions to be drawn regarding the relationship between answers and gender and age. Thanks to the two answers of the 34–48 year-olds, I will be able to deduce whether they have more knowledge about Big Data than the younger generation. I am also interested in the responses of the female gender.

This post is a further analysis of the data. The first question is important in that it shows the percentage of respondents who even know what Big data is, with only 57.1 per cent (12 people) answering in the affirmative. 23.8 % (5 people) are not sure and the rest have no idea what Big data is. In a follow-up question, those who did not know what Big data was or were unsure most replied that they were not sure. However, interestingly one person who knows what Big data is answered that it is useless. And three people responded that Big data is useful, despite their lack of knowledge. This question is related to the next one, we can deduce whether people who know what Big data is are afraid of it or whether it is more people without knowledge of it who feel a sense of fear towards it. As a test of Excel's capabilities, I decided to create a Gantt Chart and in this post I will try to present the most important functions I used and the final result. This is an update to my Gantt Chart from previous posts, so from now on I will be using it.  The first thing I have entered is the starting data, in the picture it shows the starting data on the left and I start to create a calendar using a formula that makes each week start from Monday which makes it easier to enter the data. I continue to create months and years I now format the cells and create tables to make everything look clear. Introduction

More introduction ladies and gentlemen Why I started studying at DMU? There are a few reasons. I already lived in Leicester so relocation and finding myself in new place was not a problem. I went through it 2 years ago when I moved from Poland to Leicester. With my girlfriend we decided to move,  because she wanted to study here. There are organizations in Poland, that help people wanting to study aboard to achieve this. She went thought application process with them and so did I.
